GMEA DISTRICT 7 HONOR JAZZ BAND

Clinic Information

Berry College

January 22-23, 2010

 

 

Rehearsal/Performance Schedule: All Rehearsals/Performances will be held at the Department of Music, Berry College, Rome GA.

 

Clinicians:

Clinic Band – Mr. Ryan Chapman - Director of Bands at Woodland High

School in Woodland, AL; Rehearsal Coordinator and Lead Trumpet for The

Auburn Knights Orchestra; Split-Lead Trumpet for The Atlanta Superband.

Honor Band – Mr. Kenyon Carter – Professional saxophonist and educator

in Atlanta, GA; Professor of Saxophone Studies at NGCSU; Lead Tenor for The

Atlanta Superband.

 

Friday, January 22, 2010

6:00 – 7:45 p.m. Rehearsals

8:00 – 9:30 p.m. The Atlanta Superband Concert (The Berry Jazz Ensemble may play a few tunes to open).

 

Saturday, January 23, 2010

9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Rehearsal

1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Rehearsal

6:00 p.m. Final Rehearsal/Sound-Check

7:00 p.m. Concert (Middle School Jazz Band, Clinic Jazz Band, Jazz Honor Band)

 

What to Bring: Each participant should bring a music stand!

Saxes: any doubles (please let Rich Stichler know if you double)

Brass: all mutes (straight, cup & plunger; trumpets add harmon)

Rhythm: all equipment (drum set, vibes, amps, patch cords, extension cords, extra strings, sticks, etc)

 

ALL STUDENTS please bring PENCILS!

 

Dress for Concert: Semi-Formal (coat and ties for gentlemen, ladies dress nicely) Refer to School Dress Codes for rehearsals.

 

After entering through the main gate, you will come to a circle drive. Enter the circle and take your first available right. This will bring you down to the Ford Complex (castle-style

buildings). The first buildings you come to house the music area. Parking is available in the lot adjacent. Posted signs will direct you to registration and rehearsal sites.
